Laser Engraving Service
Crisp, permanent marking on wood, acrylic, Perspex and metal, for one-offs and production runs alike.
Service
Laserlea provides a laser engraving service from our workshop in Macclesfield, Cheshire. We engrave wood, acrylic, Perspex and metal, from a single personalised piece to production runs of several thousand. Jobs start at £30, which covers the first 30 minutes including basic file setup, and we always confirm a firm price before we begin.
What we engrave
We engrave and mark a wide range of sheet and solid materials from our workshop in Macclesfield:
- Wood including plywood, MDF, hardwoods and veneers, for signage, décor, models and bespoke products.
- Plastics including acrylic, Perspex and ABS, for displays, signage, awards and prototypes.
- Metal, engraved and marked for labels, plaques, tags and industrial parts.
If you have something unusual in mind, ask before you order. We would rather talk it through first than have a material arrive that we cannot work with. We do not engrave iPhones, tablets or laptops.
One-off pieces and production runs
There is no minimum order. Plenty of our work is a single item, whether that is a personalised gift, a memorial plaque, a house sign or a one-off award. Equally, we run batches of several hundred or several thousand identical pieces for businesses, and the setup work only happens once, so unit costs fall as the run grows.
Tell us the quantity when you enquire and we will price both the single piece and the batch, so you can see where the break points are.
Getting your artwork right
Engraving is only as good as the file it comes from. We accept AI, EPS, SVG, DXF and PDF, and we check every file that arrives. Vector artwork gives the crispest results, and photographs or raster images can be engraved too, though they need preparing differently.
It is the customer’s responsibility to check artwork before sending it over. If a file needs drawing, redrawing or repairing before it can be run, that time is charged at £25 an hour, and we will always tell you in advance what it will cost. Our file preparation guide covers what to check.
Turnaround, collection and delivery
Turnaround depends on the size of the job and what is already on the machine, so we confirm a realistic date when we quote rather than promising something we cannot keep. You are welcome to collect from the workshop in Macclesfield at no extra charge, or we can arrange delivery, quoted on the size and weight of the finished pieces.

Laser engraving questions
Laser engraving starts at £30, which covers the first 30 minutes of machine time including basic file setup. After that we charge £40 an hour, billed pro rata in 15 minute blocks. Materials and delivery are extra, and we are not VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add.
We engrave wood including plywood, MDF, hardwoods and veneers, plastics including acrylic, Perspex and ABS, and we mark and engrave a range of metals. If you have something unusual, please ask before ordering rather than sending it over.
No. We are happy to engrave a single item, and a good share of our work is exactly that. We also run batches of several thousand. Setup happens once, so the more pieces in a run, the lower the cost per piece.
AI, EPS, SVG, DXF and PDF are all fine, and vector artwork gives the crispest result. Please check your file before sending it. If it needs drawing or repairing we charge £25 an hour for that time, and we tell you before we start.
No, we do not engrave iPhones, tablets or laptops. If you are not sure whether we can work with a particular item, please ask before you order and we will tell you honestly either way.
